The Enhancement of Tax Awareness for Entrepreneurs

As part of institutional partnership to support the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector, the Tax Authority department in Al Batinah South Governorate conducted a workshop titled "Tax Basics for Entrepreneurs." The session targeted participants in the "Entrepreneur Readiness Program – Establishment Phase" organized by the (SMEs) Development Authority in the governorate.
Asaad Al Balushi, Senior Tax Awareness Analyst, presented a working paper introducing the tax system in the Sultanate of Oman and its recent developments. He clarified tax laws, obligations, and rights to instill a solid tax culture among entrepreneurs at the beginning of their professional careers.
The working paper also reviewed aspects of the tax system, including:
Principles of Income Tax and its handling mechanisms, applications of Value Added Tax (VAT) and goods subject to Excise Tax. Furthermore, the workshop raised the risks of tax evasion under the slogan "No to Tax Evasion," emphasizing the importance of voluntary compliance to strengthen the national economy.
